One of the best weekends.

I'm back, like I promised. Well, it's been a rather hectic week once again. School is as boring as usual, except certain classes I guess. Let's not talk about school or I'll just doze off automatically.

One of my best girlfriends flew back to New York few days back and I'm starting to miss her already. We grew up together in church, 10 years of friendship and definitely still counting. Honestly speaking, the best girlfriends I have would be the ones in church. We've watched each other grow up, took care of each other as if we were real sisters. We were there for one another through thick and thin. The best moments were the sleepovers, chilling by the pool and just talk about everything we can think of. Every year, we NEVER miss Christmas service. It will be an yearly routine for the few of us to dress up and attend Christmas service together. I know I can always count on them no matter what happens. The best thing is, as a cell group, we volunteered to teach and take care of the Sunday school children. All the fun and laughter we have with the little children really brightens up our day. Besides having fun with the kids, it's also considered bonding time for the few of us.

All that has happened in these 10 years of friendship is too much for one blog entry, so I shall move on. So, I met my dear girls Sonjia and Nat for breakfast last Thursday morning before Sonjia flew back. Unfortunately, the rest of the girls weren't free but I'm sure there's a next time! Went to Hatched at Holland Village, it is a really cute restaurant where they have eggs in every dish.

Went off to school after that and rushed back home after for mummy's birthday dinner! Headed to Din Tai Fung at Jurong Point since it's mum's favourite. She never liked western food and I don't understand why. Oh well. Prepared 3 surprises for mum this year! I sneaked out of the house at 9.30pm on Wednesday night to Star Vista to collect my chocolate cake from Awfully Chocolate. Got home, woke everyone up and prepared to surprise her. I switched off the light while she was reading her magazine and she thought it was a blackout. Her reaction was really funny and I wish I'd taken a video of it. Then I placed a painting I've done for her before I left for breakfast on Thursday morning which was her 2nd surprise.

When I got home from school that day, my helper told me my mum was taking her afternoon nap. So I went to take out the Coach bag I bought for her last week, wrote a huge note saying " Happy Birthday Mum, I love you!" and pasted it on the paper bag. Placed it in front of her bed so when she woke up, it'd be the first thing she saw. That would be the 3rd surprise. The surprise was a success because mum couldn't stop smiling to herself when she came downstairs. I'm pretty sure she was feeling happy from the bottom of her heart, but she just had to say something sarcastic. She asked," Wow, did you strike the lottery?" I knew she'd say something like that, but it's alright she was the queen that day.

I also have to thank Grace for helping me choose the bags at Coach the other day. Can't remember how much I hesitated but it was a really tough decision to make. If Grace wasn't there with me I think I would have gone mad.

My weekends were spent well too! Yesterday, I went over to Youth Guidance Outreach Services at Woodlands to tutor the Primary 6 children. You wouldn't believe me if I said I tutor English, but yes I do. I'm not very good, but because they are all at foundation level so I guess I could help a little. I'm definitely not paid for it as I volunteered to do so. I have a church friend who works there and I've been going over there for the past 4 years to help out with events, counselling or whenever they needed help. Some of them there struggle a lot with family problems and school. I make an effort to befriend them because I guess what they need is a listening ear. Watching them grow to be someone better, stronger and braver comforts me so much.

Today, I managed to wake up early and attended church service with Nat. Spent my afternoon under the scorching hot sun. I swear I was dying of dehydration. Whatever it is, I enjoyed my weekends once again. Back to reality tomorrow, sigh.

Have a good week ahead everyone! Goodnight! (:
